Understanding Template Transfers in Genie

Diamond Plan Feature Ruby Plan Feature

Template Transfers allow specialists to seamlessly hand off completed Genie templates to their clients’ Dubsado accounts. This feature ensures that while the template is being developed, only the specialist can make edits, but once the work is done, ownership can be passed to the client.

Here’s a breakdown of how Template Transfers work, what ownership means, and the options available depending on your subscription plan.

🔒 Magic Ownership and Work-in-Progress Locking

When you, the specialist, create a Genie template for a client, the magic (i.e., the advanced features and customizations) is initially owned by you. This means:

  • The template is locked to prevent your client from making changes while you’re still working on it.
  • This ensures that no one interferes with your work-in-progress.
  • Clients can view the form publicly, but they cannot edit the Genie template until you complete the project and transfer ownership.

✨ Transferring the Magic

Once the template is complete, you have the option to transfer the magic to your client’s Dubsado account. Transferring means:

  • Your client becomes the owner of the magic and can make edits.
  • Depending on your subscription plan, the transfer process works slightly differently:

Ruby Plan

  • You can transfer the magic to your client.
  • To edit the template, your client must have their own Dub-ins subscription.
  • If they don’t have a subscription, the template remains viewable but locked for editing.

Diamond Plan

  • You can transfer the magic to your client.
  • Clients get free, limited edit access as long as your Dub-ins subscription is active and their brand is linked to your account.
  • This provides flexibility for clients without requiring an immediate subscription.

🛠️ Transfer Options

When you're ready to hand off the template, you have two options for transferring the magic:

  1. Copy Magic to Their Template
    • This copies the magic to your client’s template, but you retain ownership.
    • The client can view the magic but cannot edit it unless they have their own Dub-ins subscription.
  2. Copy & Transfer Magic to Their Template
    • This copies the magic and transfers ownership to your client.
    • The client can then edit the template based on their Dub-ins subscription or the limited-access feature (Diamond plan only).

🎨 White Labeling Option

If you prefer that your client doesn’t have access to make changes, you can choose not to transfer the magic. Instead, you can white label the template, keeping full control while presenting it as your client’s branded form.

Summary

  • Work-in-Progress: Magic is locked to the specialist during development.
  • Ruby Plan: Transfer the magic, but clients need their own subscription to edit.
  • Diamond Plan: Transfer the magic with free, limited edit access for clients.
  • White Label: Retain full control by not transferring the magic.

Template Transfers ensure you deliver polished, customizable forms to your clients while maintaining control and flexibility. Choose the option that best suits your workflow and client needs!

Note: If you cancel your subscription, all of your brand’s Genie templates will continue to function. However, neither you nor your clients (who have access to these templates) will be able to edit them. To enable editing, an Emerald Plan is required. For templates that are white-labeled or transferred, an option for your client to subscribe will be displayed.
