What Template Changes Should You Expect When Upgrading to Genie 4.0?

We’ve worked hard to ensure a smooth transition for your templates as you upgrade to Genie 4.0, but some elements will require a bit of updates or adjustments on your end. Below, we’ve outlined the key changes and what you need to do to ensure your templates work seamlessly in Genie 4.0.

Fonts & Typography

While your fonts from Genie Classic will transfer to Genie 4.0, your typography settings (i.e., font assignments for headings and body text) will not. You’ll need to reapply these settings in Genie 4.0. Here’s how:

1. Go to General Styling: In Genie 4.0, click the paintbrush icon in the Action Bar to open General Styling.
2. Select Fonts: Navigate to Fonts and apply the appropriate fonts to each heading level (Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, etc.), including your body text (Normal).
3. Real-Time Updates: Once you apply your fonts, all typography settings in your plugins will update accordingly.

Plugin and Dubsado Element Order

When applying a Genie Classic template to a Genie 4.0 form, your Dubsado elements (like Text Boxes, Short Answers, or Packages) may shift to the bottom of your form, so you’ll need to reposition them. But that’s easy:

1. Select the Plugin: Click on the plugin that should appear below the Dubsado element you want to reposition.
2. Edit the Plugin: Click the Edit button (gear icon) for that plugin.
3. Move the Plugin: Use the down arrow to move the plugin below the Dubsado element.
4. Repeat as Needed: Continue this process until all your plugins and elements on your template are back in order.

Price and Total Typographies

In Genie Classic, the Price and Total typographies for a Proposal template were reversed. This has been corrected in Genie 4.0, but you’ll need to reapply the fonts and styles for these elements:

1. Go to General Styling: Click the paintbrush icon in the Action Bar.
2. Update Typographies: Navigate to Fonts and update:
   • Total Typography
   • Price Typography
3. Real-Time Updates: All typography settings in your plugins will update accordingly.

Quick Tips for a Smooth Transition

• Check Every Form: After migrating a template, review your entire form to ensure elements, fonts, and styling appear as intended.
• Save Frequently: Be sure to save your work regularly as you make adjustments.
• Reload Preview: Click Reload Preview in the Action Bar to see your updates reflected in real time.
